Odie was the Prime Minister in an early 60s cartoon, King Leonardo and His Short Subjects (renamed in syndication The King and Odie). He was the brains behind the throne of the hapless Leonardo, and was voiced by Allen Swift, who also voiced Mighty Mouse.

Odie gets the place of honor because he's where it all started. He was my first crush. I was 8 years old, and I would daydream that, as a cute little cartoon girl skunk, I helped Odie and the king out of trouble with the villains (Biggy Rat and Itchy Brother). Of course, Odie would be so impressed by my brilliance and courage that he'd fall right in love with me. A year or so later I got a more "normal" crush, on Chris, a classmate, but Odie was first, and he started a love of animated characters that eventually brought me to this site. ~ Kat
