In Dinosaur, Yar is the elderly leader who makes sure that all of the lemur clan on the island are well-protected. He is orderly but stubborn when his daughter, Plio, finds and decides to raise a tiny baby dinosaur as her own. He is afraid that the creature may be a threat to the clan, but as the baby grows into a kind and caring Aladar, he is only too glad to have changed his mind.
